BRAZIL
Import Requirements and Regulations

Please note that all documents below must be in our hands at least 7 days before arrival of shipment in Brazil and must have all signatures notarized and copies legalized in Brazil or Brazilian representation abroad where shipment is originating.

A) FOR ALL IMPORTERS TO BRAZIL

  1. Notarized copies of passport (all pages), ID and CPF card;
  2. Notarized copy of air ticket on arrival in Brazil ;
  3. List in Portuguese of goods shipped, with values in USD and signed by shipper (this list must be done in a specific form provided by us;
  4. Power of Attorney (model will be provided by us);
  5. Proof of residence in Brazil such as utilities bill or rental contract;
  6. Proof of residence abroad for more than 01 year (letter issued by the Consulate at origin or utilities bill, etc).
  7. CPF card number must be mentioned on the OBL for ALL Importers.No exceptions, please consult with TRANSWORLD if client does not have a CPF card number.

Obs.: client must hand carrier these documents.

B) FOR SHIPPERS WITH TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT VISA'S

  1. The documents listed from #1 to #7; (Obs.: in the passport should be already stamped the visa permission given by our Federal Police );
  2. The publication of the visa on the Brazilian Government Newspaper .

C) FOR DIPLOMATS

  1. The document listed on item #1 to #7.
  2. Diplomatic Franchise to clear goods in Brazil must be obtain before arrival of move.For returning Brazilian Diplomats to obtain permit from the Foreign Ministry it takes 10 days. All demurrage and Port/Airport Expenses related charges are the origin agent's responsibilities. Make sure these charges are included in your proposal.

Freight value (freight as per agreement is not acceptable)
CNPJ: 29.408.457/0001-11(only if shipping line requires to issue the OBL)

Obs:

          1. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE OBL/AWB IS NOT CONSIGNED CORRECTLY AS WE ARE INSTRUCTING YOU ABOVE WE               WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CUSTOMS CLEAR THE SHIPMENT AND FINES TO CORRECT THE OBL/AWB MAY BE UPTO               US$3,000.00.
          2. CPF CARD is the Brazilian social security number required for all entering and living in Brazil.
          3. NCM 9797 (for all personnel,including returning Brazilian diplomats).
          4. NCM 9898 (for foreign diplomats only).

CUSTOM REGULATIONS
FOR IMPORT OF HHG’S INTO BRAZIL

  • BRAZILIANS RETURNING OR IMMIGRANTS HOLDING OLD PERMANENT VISA:

    Must have lived abroad for more than 365 days and must obtain from the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate, at origin, a residence certificate or bring documents such as utilities bill that proofs shipper has lived abroad for more than 365 days.

  • IMMIGRANT WITH TEMPORARY VISA (Work visa):

    Shipper must have a work contract in Brazil and the shipment will only be cleared with a Guarantee Bond signed by the owner. The visa entrance must already be stamped in the passport by our Federal Police.

    Please only send the shipment when you are sure client has all papers in order. This will avoid delays on clearance and the payment of high port/airport expenses.
  • DIPLOMATS: Should request a diplomatic franchise with Foreign Ministry to clear goods in Brazil, before arrival of the move.
  • IMPORTATION ONLY OF 01 CAR OR MOTORCYCLE: Is allowed for Foreign Diplomats. Click here to download the form required.
    Note: It is very important to fill and send the required form before departure of vessel to avoid delays and charges with demurrage and port/airport expenses storage.
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Exempt of duties only for foreign diplomats. Others will pay 50% duties.
  • ARMS, AMMUNITIONS, DANGEROUS OBJECTS: Subject to approval prior to departure from origin country of shipment by Brazilian Army.
  • WOOD MATERIALS: Liftvans/Airvans, wooden crates/boxes arriving in containers or single shipments will be fumigated in Brazil at shipper's expense.
  • LIST OF PROHIBITED GOODS: Live Plants, Narcotics, Drugs, Tins, Food.
  • ANIMALS: Cats and Dogs required Health and Vaccination Certificates.

IMPORTANT NOTE: NEW ITEMS ARE NO LONGER SUBJECT TO PAY DUTIES.


SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Shippers must be in Brazil before arrival of shipment;
  • Shippers arriving in Brazil have to keep with them copy of air ticket as it will be necessary for customs clearance;
  • For shippers with Temporary (work) Visa, Transworld should be informed in advance, in order for us to contact client, as to the necessary documents needed for the Guarantee bond;
  • Please advise shippers (unless instructed by you), C/Clearance fees, THC, Port/Airport Storage, demurrage , if any, are invoiced in Brazil;
  • Do not send shipments without visa confirmation from shipper nor if shipper has a Tourist Visa;
  • Shipments must arrive in Brazil within 180 days of shipper’s arrival in Brazil , as per copy of air ticket;

  • All imports without exceptions pay port/airport storage in Brazil over CIF Value declared in periodos of 02 weeks.
