CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
- CUSTOMER MUST BE IN COUNTRY AT TIME OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
- Returning Chileans and anyone coming to work in Chile are exempt from duties on their household goods and personal effects
DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS
- Sporting guns (owner must obtain carrying permit at the Weapons Control Bureau)
- Alcohol and tobacco products
- New furniture is dutiable (invoices required)
- Caviar, pearls, synthetic furs, uncut precious, semi-precious or synthetic stones (only for personal use)
PROHIBITED ITEMS
- Firearms
and weapons of non-sporting nature (consult with destination agent)
- Drugs (unless for medical purposes)
- Pornographic material
MOTOR VEHICLES
- Returning Chileans can import one new or used automobile, but have to pay full import duties, which are approximately 34% of the vehicles value. Chilean Customs keeps a list with all possible vehicles and their value for every year/model. Absolutely NO used motorcycles are allowed to be imported
- Foreigners can only import brand new vehicles, and pay full import duties as noted above
- Diplomats, foreign diplomatic personnel or returning Chilean diplomats are exempted of paying duties when importing one vehicle
PETS
- Dogs and cats must arrive with a valid International Health Certificate. Please check with destination agent regarding other pets
